About Me
Mandy Kitsell
I have been a counsellor/therapist for the last 21 years. I love my work and I offer a supportive, non-judgemental space so that we can work through difficult and sometimes traumatic experiences. My counselling style is varied as it is very much dependant on the individuals or couples needs and concerns.
When I’ve worked with children and Young People, we’ve worked with talking therapy as well as play therapy. Using creativity has also helped, depending on the best way to work with each individual person and case. Whether it’s a child, young person, adult or couple, I help to facilitate the work they want to sort through at their own pace even using the effective sand tray method, when talking becomes difficult, even with adults.
I started my counselling career in G.P. Surgeries where I supported people with mental health issues, suicidal thoughts and urges, adoption issues, anxiety and much more.
I then had the opportunity to work with Sue Ryder Care. Where I supported people around bereavement and loss.
CHUMS gave me the chance to support children who are grieving or experiencing preparatory grief.
I worked at Relate for 14 years as I had a desire to specialize more around Relationship Therapy. I am Relate trained to work with children, young people, couples, families and to facilitate group work or run training workshops. During my time with Relate, I continued my training in working with Domestic Abuse, (perpetrators, victims and families). I’ve also worked in prisons over the years working with offenders and trained to work with Sexual Offending (perpetrators, victims and families).
Whilst at Relate, I trained in group work and training/facilitating workshops. I have enjoyed group work with children, young people and adults as this is another great learning opportunity for everyone included.
I have had the incredible opportunity during my career to be interviewed with both Anglia and BBC local news, talking about teenage depression and how to help them. Ive also had the privilege of being interviewed several times by Radio Cambridge and BBC4 regarding counselling, how to receive help, and about Domestic Abuse. I’ve been grateful to be a part of the effort to help get the message out there for all those who want and need extra support.
During the past 21 years I have felt honoured to work with those who have been my clients. It is a privilege that I don’t take lightly. Meet with me for an introductory consultation and we can discover the best ways to help make the changes needed to help you on your journey.
“Mandy, you have supported us when we were at our worst, helped us on our journey to a better place where we are talking and laughing more than we’ve done in a long time. We’ve come a long way and the tools you’ve given us will continue to help us as we work together on our relationship. Thank you so much!”
